Thanks to all subscribers for pushing me over the edge of a milestone!

Two years after randomly wondering aloud at a party if starting a Substack would be a good idea, and less than six months since offering paid subscriptions, I’ve ended up with what feels like a relief of a place online to think aloud and share ideas—an experience I’d all but given up on expecting from the internet. I set a goal of 100 paid subs with the idea that I’d probably never get there—just glad to be here.

But I sincerely appreciate the support and look forward to continuing to expand the reach. Actually making a little money from an independent means that I don’t have to hoop jump through submissions and editorial oversight feels freeing in a way that reaches past just transactional webicles and all that shit. In a time when it’s harder than ever to make a living without getting tied to an institution, putting in work here is its own reward.
